Sexual Assault and Abuse

Sexual assault victims can seek monetary justice.

Being sexually assaulted can have a devastating impact on a person’s life.  Every 73 seconds an American is sexually assaulted.
[1] One out of every six American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime.[2]  Nonetheless, out of every 1,000 sexual assaults that occur, 995 perpetrators will walk free.[3]

The criminal justice system primarily aims to punish offenders; it is not designed to address the serious harms suffered by survivors.  In a civil lawsuit, a survivor can pursue justice by suing the abuser and other third parties responsible for his or her damages and losses.  A civil case provides an additional avenue for a survivor to seek justice.  Financial compensation from a civil lawsuit can help pay for medical bills, relocation, lost wages, and other expenses.

Bringing a civil case is a significant decision and it may not be the right choice for every survivor.  At Donelan Law, we will candidly discuss with you the advantages and disadvantages of bringing a civil claim so you can make the right decision for you.

In many cases, a third party, such as an employer, school, abuser’s parents, hospital, private business, landlord, hotels, and fraternities, maybe be financially liable if their conduct enabled the sexual assault.

As part of any criminal and civil case, it is important to preserve evidence of the crime by reporting it to law enforcement as soon as possible and seeking medical treatment and mental health services to help with the healing process.

Donelan Law utilizes the civil courts to empower victims, provide victims with an opportunity to be heard, and bring about meaningful changes. Contact Us to discuss your options.

Child Physical & Sexual Abuse

Abusers should pay for what they did and so should individuals or institutions protecting them.

Children who were sexually and physically abused have the right to seek damages for their emotional and physical suffering.  Donelan Law represents parents of minors who were abused and adults who were sexually abused as children.  In addition to suing the abuser, institutions such as schools, universities, hospitals, daycares, youth organizations, sports teams, and churches who fail to protect children against sexual abuse, can also be held accountable for their actions.

At Donelan Law, we will listen to you, discuss all your legal options, and fight for you.
